U.S. Figure Skating announced today that The Skating Club of Boston has been chosen to host the 2014 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships. The event will take place January 5-12, 2014 with senior events at the TD Garden and junior and novice at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. “The Skating Club of Boston is extremely pleased to have been chosen to host U.S. Figure Skating’s premier event in its very special 100th anniversary year,” said Club President Joe Blount. “As a founding member of U.S. Figure Skating, we have a long and exciting history hosting the U.S. Championships. Boston has always been home to some of the country’s most enthusiastic skating fans, and with the support of the Mayor’s Office, and our partners at TD Garden, the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, and the Mass Sports Partnership, the Club is promising a spectacular event – both on and off the ice – that will long be remembered by athletes, officials and fans.”
With the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia the following month, the 2014 Prudential U.S. Championships will have the added significance of serving as the final qualifying event prior to selection of the U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team. Mr. Blount added, “The Skating Club of Boston has several promising athletes who will be competing for a spot on Team USA. We are thrilled they will be able to perform in front of a home town audience.”
A website for the event will be posted soon, including information on purchasing all-event tickets. Tickets will go on sale this summer. If you have any immediate questions about the event, including tickets, please contact the local organizing committee at 2014@scboston.org.
